Does anyone remember Rare Records I think it was on John Dalton Street, Manchester. Fabulous place to get records you coudn't get anywhere else. It was in the Basement. It's now a restaurant

Yes, Ian Curtis used to work there. I also used to love Paperchase in St Annes Sq.

Crikey - forgot about Paperchase! Newsagents upstairs - records downstairs, with the narrowest of staircases to negociate. I doubt I'd fit down them nowadays.I seem to recall it was well stocked with indie & goth i.e especially Sisters of mercy, Bauhaus, Cure...

Hi, I used to work at Paperchase in the record dept, there was another floor below where they printed the t-shirts, we just spent the day getting stoned and listening to great music. Happy times :)

I always wondered why i got lightheaded after spending a bit of time down there!

Ah that would be more down to the fumes from the t-shirt printing (with no ventilation) than anything we smoked, regardless of how much it packed a punch - the t-shirt floor was lethal and the cheapest high around at the time.

I still have a good few of the vinyls I acquired while there but sadly most found their way out of my collection by way of beg steal and borrowed. :(
